Reno, Nev. – Four of the community’s largest marketing and communications organizations will donate $3000 raised during their joint annual holiday party and fundraiser, “Mingle Bells,” to Children in Transition, a federally funded program administered through the Washoe County School District that provides assistance to homeless, school-aged children in the community. The check presentation will take place on Friday, March 23 at noon in the Harrah’s Convention Center.
This is the second year that the Reno-Tahoe American Marketing Association, The Sierra Nevada Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America, the Advertising Association of Northern Nevada and the Sierra Graphics Network/AIGA of Northern Nevada sponsored the fundraising/networking event, which was held in early December. The 2005 event generated $1,500 for the same nonprofit organization.
“We’re very grateful to these associations for their support,” said Gloria Bratiotis, Washoe County School District Homeless Liaison. “This school year, we’ve identified 1,267school-age children experiencing homelessness, so donations like this truly enhance the breadth of our program.”
Money raised from this event will go toward the year-round purchase of items that normalize their lives and daily activities including shoes, coats, socks, undergarments and toiletries. In addition, purchasing items such as school supplies, uniforms, and providing for participation in enrichment activities contributes to their academic successes.
The check presentation will be part of the Reno Tahoe Chapter of the American Marketing Association’s monthly luncheon. The lunch and presentation are open to the public and reservations are encouraged. For more details, visit www.renotahoeama.com or call 775-786-3030.
